MCC falls to No. 13 Iowa Western in regular season finale

Council Bluffs, IA—The Marshalltown Community College Women's Basketball team fell on the road to No. 13 Iowa Western Community College on Saturday night, dropping the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) contest 82-45.

In the regular season finale, JeAnn Hiraldo (Ames, IA/Ames) finished with a team-high 22 points after knocking four three-point shots. Hiraldo finished the regular season atop multiple categories in the ICCAC. The sophomore led the league with 17.4 points per game and 486 total points. Hiraldo also led the ICCAC with 9.1 rebounds per game and blocks with 2.1 per game. Hiraldo ranked second in the league in three-point shots made with 56 and steals per game at 2.4.

Freshman Shyannon Wolf (Tama, IA/Meskwaki) connected on four three-point shots on the night to finish with 12 points for the Tigers. Barbara Araoz (Nequen, Argentina/Maria Auiliadota) added six points and Victoria Pothast (Melbourne, IA/West Marshall) scored five points

MCC earned the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Region XI Tournament and will travel to No. 2 seed Northeast Community College for a 5:00 PM matchup on Feb. 24.
